Coconut Oil

Coconut (halved)

Coconut oil (Cocos nucifera) is excellent massage oil for the skin. It acts as an effective moisturiser on all types of skins including dry skin.

In aromatherapy the fractionated oil is used, which is very light and odourless and absorbs into the skin very easily without clogging pores.

Virgin coconut oil is solid at room temperature and only starts to become liquid at 24 degrees centigrade. This is why it isn’t used in massage generally, blending it with essential oils would be tricky!

I do love to use the virgin coconut oil on mine and my son’s skin though, especially after a bath, as it restores the skins ph level almost immediately, leaving it very soft. Whenever he has had any dry skin patches, it has relieved it very quickly.

Coconut oil helps in treating various skin problems including psoriasis, dermatitis, eczema and other skin infections. This is why coconut oil forms the basic ingredient of various body care products such as soaps, lotions, creams, etc used for skin care.Green coconuts

Its strong antioxidant properties make it an excellent skin protector, so can be soothing as an after sun treatment. It is also widely used to strengthen and moisturise hair.

  • Coconut oil naturally helps the skin control its oil secretions.
  •  It helps the skin quickly restore its ph levels after washing with soaps.
  •  Coconut oil is full of goodness and naturally contains vitamins A, B and E as well as phosphorus, calcium, iron, manganese and magnesium.
  •  High in lauric acid, oleic acid, omega 3, 6 and 9 and polyphenols (antioxidants)
